Get a google calendar account and add the events

2. use this procedure to link the facebook events to google calendar

Note: Don’t log out for now!

Install and configure google calendar events

1. log into your wordpress site

2. install the google calendar events widget

3. under Settings > Google Calendar Events, click Add Feed

4. add your feed title (eg. my facebook events)

5. in Google calendar, under Other Calendars, click the calendar you want to add, and in the sub-menu, click Calendar Settings

6. in the Calendar settings page, at the bottom click the XML link, and copy the text there.

7. back in your wordpress install, in the Add Feed page, into the Feed URL paste the XML link

8. Click Add Feed.

9. In the Google Calendar Events page, take note of the feed ID (it will be 1, 2 or whatever)

NOTE: repeat this process for each calendar you want to have displayed on your site.

Add the widget to your site sidebar

1. In the left sidebar, click Appearance > Widgets

2. In the Widgets page, in Available Widgets, drag and drop Google Calendar Events to your sidebar

3. In the Google Calendar Events widget, enter the ID of your feed (from the Google Calendar Events page). You can add others, separated by a comma

4. Enter the title of the widget (eg. events), and choose how you want it to display (eg. grid).

5. click save.

The original My Agender website is on blogger.com, but they needed a way to sell the book online that was simpler to manage than using the Paypal interface.

- hosted the website for a year (with the option to renew if they want)

- installed and configured WordPress for the site

- provided a one-on-one skype chat session to teach them how to use the site

- set-up the WP e-Commerce software on the site

- imported all the content from the original site

Still to do!

- import all the images from blogger

- design banner images for the site

- help with product pages

- integrate the site with Facebook and Twitter social networking sites

- provide full manual on the website on how to update and make changes

- suggested they simplify their menu structure to make it easier to navigate

- researched and implemented a solution for donations for their homepage

- developed a simple sitemap they could modify simply and easily

- designed flyers for their events

You click a button that’s clearly named to give you the hope of more information, and you end up on another general page which doesn’t have what you’re looking for,

The most important things to give people on your website are:

- who you are and what you do — a homepage that’s simple and clearly written.

- how to get in contact with you — either on the homepage, or on a single, easy to access contact page.

- relevant information, easy to get at — either at a top level or one level beneath.

That’s it. Simple wins on the internet. It might seem logical to put information in level after level, deeper and deeper so it’s organised correctly, and in an office environment (perhaps) this works well. It doesn’t work online.

- Now enter what you’re looking for in the two fields

To improve this, at the very least, the two search fields should be made available on the second page, not the third. Better still would be to make them available on the Find Help page. And the best way would be to simply have a drop-menu from the Find Help main menu item.
