Page Meta – lightweight SEO

Page Meta is a lightweight SEO plugin for Wordpress that gives you control over the important metatags in each page:

• Title – the page title, displayed at the top of your browser window and which should contain your top keywords, not just page title and site name
• Description – the page description, displayed in search results, which is around 150 characters. Smart people put their phone number in here to grab immediate calls from google
• Keywords – the search terms that your visitors are likely to enter to find your site. Don’t put your company name here; it’s a waste as people won’t necessarily know it and anyone who searches on name will find your site regardless

Many people use the excellent All in one SEO pack, but in certain cases this can slow down the loading of your site.

Note: to take advantage of the Page Meta plugin, you will need to alter some back-end code in your header.php file. If in doubt, consult your friendly neighbourhood Webmaster! The instructions for this step can be found here in the plugin installation page.

You can install the Page Meta plugin by opening the Plugins panel down on the left and clicking Add New. Then search for Page Meta and click Install.
